For most manufacturing, industrial, & service companies, the physical activity of the workforce, perhaps the biggest determinant of labor efficiency & effectiveness, remains difficult to measure, visualize, and improve.  At Iterate Labs, we have developed the first AI-powered IOT platform that digitizes human motion into precise, actionable, data-driven insights and enables business leaders to monitor, engage, and manage their workforces at scale, in real-time.

  • Our Delta-1 smartwatch digitizes & measures employees’ biomotion & location data across nine axes, identify excessive variation from ergonomic standards, and provide real-time feedback in a personalized manner
  • Our AI software platform aggregates, translates, and visualizes this data to create actionable insight into what people are doing, where they are, and how well they are performing via workforce analytics, dashboards, and text/email alerts
  • Our AI biomotion engine creates a closed-loop, intelligent learning system by ingesting data from multiple wearable sensors, computer vision, and other sources and then using model-based reasoning to predict optimal biomotion & location based on statistical analysis of past performance

Granular, accurate data – captured in real-time and made visual without bias – is the all-important first step toward surfacing previously-obscured inefficiencies, reducing variation, and engaging employees in performance improvement initiatives.  Iterate Labs partners with Operations & Continuous Improvement leaders to:

  • Increase overall labor effectiveness (OLE):
    • Output per individual:  amount of product delivered
    • Workforce availability:  % of time employees spend making effective contributions
    • Quality of tasks performed:  % of perfect or saleable product
    • Downtime per individual and when
    • Cycle time monitoring and standardization
  • Define labor standards with unprecedented precision
  • Minimize wasted movement through modified technique, work station design, part placement, and implementation & automation of standard work
  • Measure and predict workforce fatigue
  • Balance lines and minimize process interruptions

Visualization and gamification of workforce performance data can further accelerate performance improvement initiatives by engaging the workforce and creating positive incentives for increasing productivity and reducing turnover by setting & automating the provision of “pay for performance” compensation to employees for reaching certain productivity targets.  Measurement is precise, accurate, and objective, and feedback can be real-time, haptic, and visually displayed.

Training

Every aspect of training the modern employee can be enhanced by wearable sensors’ biomotion & location data:  from teaching new hires how to operate safely & efficiently during initial onboarding, to monitoring adherence to proper technique & sustainment of ongoing performance, to reinforcing & upskilling through continuing education.  Iterate Labs partners with Operations, Training, and HR leaders to:

  • Increase the effectiveness while reducing the cost of initial training, thereby accelerating ramp-up to full productivity for new hires
  • Measure and make visible ongoing adherence to quality and labor standards
  • Use haptic feedback to facilitate the learning / relearning of new job responsibilities, especially as humans begin to work alongside robots where work is partially automated

Safety

Analytics-driven root cause analysis + corrective action is the key to sustained reduction in the incidence and severity of workplace injuries.  Iterate Labs partners with Safety leaders to:

  • Minimize ergonomic risk and attend to physical needs in a personalized manner
  • Predict and pre-empt musculoskeletal injuries
  • Detect and receive alerts for slips, trips, falls, and other errant motions
  • Accelerate response times to hazards and other risk factors
  • Limit exposure to high-risk areas
  • Measure & enforce regulatory compliance
  • Implement return to work programs
  • Collaborate with insurers to improve underwriting & claims handling, reduce workers’ compensation costs, and prevent fraud
